People
Tomorrow I’m graduating from high school.
I’m ready. I know that I am.
I’m ready for this next chapter.
This next phase of my life.
However, what about my people?
That core group of beautiful individuals that took four years to find?
What of them?
Meredith Grey and Christina Yang always talk about having a person.
I’m not in elementary school or middle school anymore.
I don’t just have one best friend.
I don’t have just one person.
I have people.
They’re my people.
And I love them to the moon and back.
I don’t want to lose them when I go.
I want to be annoying and snapchat them everyday.
I can’t lose them.
I refuse to.
They know me. ME.
They love me.
They build me up.
They make me strong.
They make me want to be better.
They are my people.
And I love them.
Even though my school preached sisterhood,
And no one in the class believed that we were,
My people became my sisters.
We were a family.
And even though we’re all leaving for the next stage of our lives,
We will never forget what we went through together these past four years.
And we will always be there for each other for whatever the future holds.
My people are my everything.
Thank you for four life changing years of love and hope.
